This morning, I was awakened by my radio at 7:45am. This radio alarm never wakes me up when it's supposed to, but for whatever reason it woke me up in such a way that I wasn't disturbed. Instead of slamming the snooze buttons I decided to listen to the music. A few songs played and then that 'new' Keyshia Cole came on. The song is called 'Playa Cardz Right'.
Now there is nothing wrong with the song, it's just that...that song was released in 2006 on Tupac's album 'Pac's Life'. Not only that, but there is a male version and a female version. Pac went in. I think they are playing out this song.I think it's mad wack that you take a song that was originally Tupac featuring Keyshia Cole to Keyshia Cole featuring Tupac and releasing it again as if nothing happened. Like regular stations are playing this song as if it was hers. I don't approve.
Now, I'm not gonna front like sometimes that behavior is acceptable. Like for instance, that Ray Lavender song, I'm very fond of, 'Put It Down' is a T-Pain song rearranged. But the T-Pain version was wack. The song needed saving. And it was saved, but only via mixtape. I haven’t heard 'Put It Down' on Hot 97 or 107.5 WBLS, but I'm sure it's being played somewhere down south where it doesn’t get circulation.
Back on topic...I didn't appreciate the second version of 'If I Ain't Got You' by Alicia Keys and Usher, I thought it was an unnecessary single. I liked the original, but I'm sure they made a lot of money off of it. I also didn't appreciate that Ne-Yo featuring Mary J. Blige 'Do You' song...mad extra. You don't a female version of someone wondering. But that's just my opinion...
Oh yea, let's not forget the infamous 'Dangerously In Love, Part II' by Beyonce, that song truly sounds the same to me. OMG was it necessary to carry that song idea through her first solo CD?? I mean, I couldn't tell the difference in vocals because SHE WAS THE LEAD SINGER OF DESTINY'S CHILD!!! But, I guess it was a great business decision for her. Beyonce is a superstar.
But I need to go back to sleep...I've listened to enough of the radio for the morning, I'll tune in later.
Until next time...I'm gonna leave you with the orginial 'Playa Cardz Right (Female)' Tupac feat. Keyshia Cole.
:)

The only issue I'm having is that there exists a song entitles "Playa Cardz Right". Where in the hell does she get off??
Regardless. You've been going in with the blogging lately. I think I need to catch up. I love and respect your P.O.V.
OK Syd. No break dancing ass.
